We met Debbie & Mark at the Big Sheep Wedding Fayre where they were on the hunt for a wedding bar hire company for their home wedding the next May. Their plan was to turn their large home garage/shed into the perfect wedding space fit for 200 guests, who would have high tea then party all night long! I went to meet them both at their home in East Down on a dark, rainy and cold February night, which as they showed me around the shed, which was still very much a shed, it was difficult to imagine their vision. Fast forward 3 months to May 2019 and they really pulled it out of the bag the venue was amazing! Machinery and other bits had been moved, temporary flooring down and all over lighting really set the rustic home wedding theme perfectly.
When we arrived on the morning of the wedding and started to set up the barrel bar in the main space Debbie’s dad was still making tweaks to the garage and it became clear he has been key to the renovation. A very useful man, I tried to hire him but no luck. The bar looked great against the back drop of the bare materials of the structure like it was built to stay there permanently and not a pop up bar. We hadn’t quite finished the set up when the bride was keen to give pulling a pint a go which we happily obliged. I think it was a Devon Red Cider from Stanford Orchard she chose, great cider!
The bar was ready to go as the bridal party left for the church so our team turned attentions to the welcome drinks or Prosecco and bucks fizz out on the drive which were to be ready to go as guests started to arrive back from the ceremony. We set up the glasses and had the fizz on ice in preparation for their arrival, nothing better than a thirst quencher after a beautiful wedding.
As guests arrived back to the house, they parked in the field opposite and made their way to the newly purposed wedding structure. On their way they picked up a refreshment courtesy of the bride and groom then a few hours of enjoying the sunshine and mingling. At this time the bar was open serving drinks for anything extra over and above the fizz and soft drinks on offer from the married couple. As the welcome drinks ran dry the majority of guests turned their attentions to the main bar which was stocked with everything a good party needs including Korev Lager, Estrella, Sandford Orchard Cider, an extensive wine list, cocktails including espresso martinis and mojitos and of course for later in the evening shots. As the evening went on the real party animals came to the bar and set up camp, a really fun group and we enjoyed serving everyone. Our bars come fully stocked and when we are hired we work with our clients to build bespoke menus to ensure we serve their favourites. We also bring everything needed for a fully operating bar, taps, fridges, freezers, ice, fruit and of course ample alcohol.
Thank you Debbie and Mark for having us! Was one to remember!
