Early January 2019 we received an email via our website from Jeremy enquiring about our wedding catering and bar services for a wedding in June 2019 at the beautiful venue The Old Rectory in Pyworthy. They were planning a 70 person all weekend wedding party and needed a team to be on hand throughout the Saturday to run both the wedding food and the wedding bar. Jeremy started the email conversation but announcing that they were massive “foodies” and that the wedding catering would make or break their big day… No pressure then.
We spoke in detail about the style they were trying to create throughout their wedding day, the theme that kept coming up was that of sharing and getting involved all revolving around tasty, fresh and delicious food which is most definitely our style. As well as the food for the whole day and evening we were also asked to run an outside mobile cocktail bar which would be set up in between the main wedding hall and the house to bridge the gap from the main kitchen to the dance floor, less steps to get a drink!
We decided on a food menu of mezze platters, stuffed peppers, artichokes, olives, breads and humus to start followed by whole roasted seasoned chickens to share between 4 with a variety of fresh salads including Green bean, tomato and mozzarella and carrot and seaweed, big sharing platters of potatoes with a whole roasted cauliflower for the vegans for main with a dessert board of homemade profiteroles and New Coast Eton tidy which was also a vegan option. Trick is we make the meringue with chickpea water. For the bar menu we were serving real ale from the GT Ales boys in Chivenor a beer called Thirst of Many needless to say this didn’t hang about. We also put on a cocktail menu which included the Negroni, Whiskey sours, Aperol spritz and Old Fashioned.
Josh and the bar team also made a few of our creations just to keep some of the more adventurous drinkers guessing. Throughout the day the New Coast Team helped with all areas of the food and drinks including the welcome drinks and canapes, the wedding breakfast which included the table wines and fizz and the evening bar and food. If someone was eating or drinking it was because of us! The day was organised weeks in advanced with the New Coast Team working closely with the bride and groom to understand exactly how they wanted to day to run and then helping them to tweak their plans to make it run as smoothly as it could.
Jeremy and Sara were amazing to work with throughout the wedding planning, they were demanding but always clear with their requests which is so helpful. When we are booked to cater for any wedding we will do all we can to fit in with your plans and make your dream day happen so understanding exactly what it is you want it so useful to our team. Do not be scared to say exactly what you want us to do, we are here to work for our clients and this dynamic really worked well on this occasion and Sara’s lovely review (right) reinforces our approach and makes us confident in the way we approach each wedding. This was a really great wedding and will live long in the memory, if you are getting married and want to talk to us about making your plans come to life then email us on info@newcoastevents.co.uk to find out more.
