Being our first winter we decided to take this season easy and stick to the one event which was the Braunton Christmas market on the 2nd of December, where we served delicious mulled wine. The market was awesome and our mulled wine went down a storm which is a great reassurance for me as the recipe is something that I have made up from researching a number of key sources and giving it the NCL spin.
Our recipe – that I am sure will change and evolve over the years – currently involves bringing water to the boil with cinnamon, star anise, whole cloves, ground nutmeg, oranges, lemons, orange zest, lemon zest and plenty of sugar and letting the flavours infuse. After 5 minutes, let the mixture simmer and add wine – I suggest a full bodied Malbec – we use a Chilean Malbec but I would also suggest not spending too heavily on the wine as it is going to be infused with the spices, so some of the subtleties you pay for will be lost in the cooking process. Also, to give it a little extra kick we like to add a touch of brandy, try it and let us know how you get on.
We have had a year to remember with plenty of spills, fun times and learning experiences and with a busy year 2 around the corner we could do with the time to get our ducks in a row and conduct some important market research i.e. have some drinks ourselves which is a tough job but someone has got to do it.
We have some pretty amazing things happening in 2018 with launches of our new double decker bus project and the launch of our very own clothing range with limited lines and items available.
The whole team would like to wish you all a great Christmas and happy new year! Have a drink on us and see you next year!
