On the 17th of August 2019 we have the privilege of catering for the amazing couple that are Peter and Lenny in Croyde on Lime Kiln field. This is a National Trust own field with amazing views over Croyde Bay with the sea literally a stones throw from where most marquees are usually set up.
Peter and Lenny were initially only looking to hire the New Coast double decker bus bar to park next to the marquee but once we got chatting about the wedding catering options we offer, it was settled that we would provide both the bar hire and the wedding catering.
Bar wise we organised for the double decker bus bar to offer their guests refreshments and an awesome view of the beach from the top deck which would have been the perfect summer spot if the weather had held out for them a bit longer. Not to worry with Peter’s side of the wedding being majority Scottish we dug deep and put the bus roof back on and made a cosy look out spot to watch the rain come in, every cloud.
As guests arrived they were met with welcome drinks which we prepared and set out inside the marquee, a choice between pimms, bottled lagers, prosecco and soft drinks for the non-drinkers and under-agers made sure everyone had something to enjoy.
Guests were mingling and enjoying welcome drinks and drinks from the bus bar for an hour or so, before we sat down for a hamper style picnic which complete with 25 wicker baskets was the perfect relaxed wedding breakfast whilst overlooking Croyde.
In the hampers we had everything from mixed bread, baguettes, cooked meats, olives, tomato mozzarella skewers, stilton and broccoli tarts, crab pate, houmous, dips all topped off with cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. We also added biltong to the menu as Lenny is South African it was a nice home style touch.
Once the hampers were finished we offered everyone teas and coffees to enjoy with their desserts.
As the day moved on and all guests were fed and watered and the evening guests arrived we started work on the evening BBQ which we set up just behind the marquee. On the evening food BBQ menu the bride really wanted all of her guests to have the chance to try a true South African flavour in the “Boerewors” South African Sausage which everyone loved, we sourced the meat and get it in especially. Also on the menu was Exmoor Beef Burger, Vegan Sausage and Lentil Burgers, a mixture of fresh salads, israeli couscous with cucumber and mint and coleslaw.
Whilst the Bus Bar was serving delicious cocktails and drinks, the BBQ was at full power and the 120 guests were loving the party atmosphere and the whole of Croyde Bay was pumping.
Perfect wedding for a great couple and an amazing group of people who came from all over the world to party and get married in Croyde and we even got a group kilt picture, warning not for the faint hearted.
