I wanted to take some time out today and update you on what has been going on behind the scenes here at New Coast and what the future looks like now we have had some time to work out the best way forward.
It goes without saying that Covid-19 has derailed our 2020 plans and has made things pretty tough going forward. We have moved 37 events from 2020 into 2021. A huge thank you to the vast majority of our clients who have been so supportive and helped us keep our heads above water by being so flexible and understanding.
Although we have been able to work to some degree this summer with pop ups and takeaways we have suffered a 90% drop in revenue and haven’t traded properly since October 2019 which has taken its toll and has forced our hand behind the scenes to change the direction of the business.
2021 is now fully booked and we will not be taking anymore bookings for next year! Any client already booked in 2021 your plans and packages we have agreed and discussed are all staying the same and we look forward to catching up with you all on these plans soon.
Beyond 2021 is where we have decided on a big change, we have decided to stop catering for weddings in our current format and will be focusing on the “takeaway” and “pop-up” style which was so popular this summer. The idea is that we will only be serving food and drinks from our converted vehicles with an aim to keep the service and atmosphere relaxed and casual. We will stop doing full catering for weddings including table service and other elements of service. From 2022 we will be creating delicious bespoke menus that will be served from our street food wagons, Double Decker bus and other vehicles that we have plans for.
We have also decided to stop doing any events management and planning, both areas that were still in their infancy so not a huge change but a decision we have made to allow us to focus on our core services which is the food and drink popups. We have also decided to drop fine dining and other formats of service which again is designed to give us more time and resources to focus on one core service of the popups.
The new changes will become active from the end of 2021 and any new bookings we take will be for our new pop up style. If any of our current bookings like the sound of this change and want to discuss options for changing styles then please contact me and we can start these conversations.
